Abel Aslanishvili

Abel Aslanishvili (1919-6 June 1944) was a Georgian Ostlegionen soldier in the Wehrmacht during World War II. Previously a Soviet Red Army soldier, he was captured on the Eastern Front and allowed to serve in the German military in exchange for his freedom. On 6 June 1944, while serving in the German 709th Static Infantry Division, he was killed at the Battle of Sainte-Mere-Eglise in Normandy, France.
