The African Solidarity Party (PSA) was a socialist political party in the Democratic Republic of the Congo that existed from 1958 to 1965. Founded by Antoine Gizenga, the PSA was founded in the aftermath of violent protests that led to the exponential growth of the nationalist cause, and it became one of the best organized parties in the country. In 1960, it supported Patrice Lumumba's rise to power, but it was sidelined from mainstream politics when Lumumba was assassinated, and Gizenga and his party came to lead the rival Congo-Stanleyville government, which supported Lumumba's views. After Mobutu Sese Seko's 1965 seizure of power, the party was banned.
