Alexander Vinnikov

Alexander Aronovich Vinnikov (6 October 1955-) was the Governor of the Jewish Autonomous Oblast from 25 February 2010 to 24 February 2015, succeeding Nikolay Volkov and preceding Alexander Levintal.

Biography[]

Alexander Aronovich Vinnikov was born on 6 October 1955 in Khabarovsk Krai, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union to a family of Russian Orthodox Jews. His family was originally from Belarus, migrating to the Russian Far East in 1947. In 2004 he beat Miron Fishbeyn and Aleksandr Kurdyukov in the race for Mayor of Birobidzhan in the Jewish Autonomous Oblast of Russia, and in 2010 he became Governor. In 2015, he stepped down, and Alexander Levintal became acting governor.
