Alfred Kordelin (6 November 1868-7 November 1917) was an agriculturalist from Finland and one of the country's richest men in the early 20th century. He employed the future president Risto Ryti as his legal adviser, and he was murdered by the Bolsheviks in 1917.
Biography[]
Alfred Kordelin was born on 6 November 1868 in Rauma, Finland, Russian Empire. Kordelin initially worked as a cloth salesman, later moving on to sell metals, which made his poor family a rich one. Kordelin later built the summer house today used by the President of Finland, and Kordelin took future President Risto Ryti as his legal adviser, befriending him as well. On 7 November 1917, Kordelin was killed by Bolsheviks at the Mommilanjarvi summer house, leading to the start of the Finnish Civil War a few months later.
