God, also known as Jehovah, Yahweh, Elohim, Adonai, El Shaddai, and Allah, among many other names, is the monotheistic god, supreme being, creator deity, and principal object of faith in the Abrahamic faiths, most notably in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. In the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible, it is stated that that God was always in existence, and that he created the heavens and the Earth in around 4004 BC. In the Abrahamic faiths, he played an active role in human affairs, making covenants with mankind after the Great Flood, and giving the Ten Commandments to the Israelites following their Exodus from Egypt in 1491 BC. In 4 BC, he was said to have immaculately conceived a son with the virgin Mary in Bethlehem, and the son was Jesus, God's messengrer on Earth. In 30 AD, Jesus was crucified after spreading the Gospel (the "good news") to the people of Judea, as he was seen as a heretic for his challenging of traditional Jewish laws and customs. His followers went on to found Christianity, which believed that Jesus was resurrected following his crucifixion and rose to heaven to be seated at the right hand of God the Father. In most Christian denominations, God is seen as part of the Holy Trinity, consisting of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In Islam, it was said that God communicated with Muhammad and demanded the submission of mankind to his word, and he had Muhammad communicate a new message to the people of the world, written down in the Quran.
