Anton Perez-Barnuevo

Anton Perez-Barnuevo (23 June 1927-1 July 2010) was a Cuban-American singer. Originally living in Cuba under Fulgencio Batista's government, he fled after the Cuban Revolution.

Biography[]

Anton Perez-Barnuevo was born on 23 June 1927 in Havana, Cuba. He became interested in music when he was young and became a singer with a band, becoming a celebrity in Havana. He was hired by President Fulgencio Batista to perform for his guests on New Year's Eve in 1958, and he performed there with his group. However, their show ended prematurely when Batista announced his resignation as president after the revolutionaries of Fidel Castro moved into the city, and Perez fled to the United States. He lived in Miami, Florida until his death in 2010.
