Army Detachment Steiner was an enlargened German corps created by Adolf Hitler on 21 April 1945 during the Battle of Berlin. Hitler gave Felix Steiner command of the detachment, which included the III SS Panzer Corps, the 4th SS Polizei Panzergrenadier Division, the 5th Jager Division, and the 25th Panzergrenadier Division, and he demanded that Steiner attack the huge salient created by the 1st Belorussian Front's breakout near Berlin. However, Steiner's ragtag army did not have enough strength to break through the Soviet lines, and he cancelled the attack. His army detachment was forced to surrender to the Soviets in May 1945.
