Arsames of Cilicia

Arsames of Cilicia (died 333 BC) was the Satrap of Cilicia under the Persian Empire. In May 334 BC, he took command of a 40,000-strong Persian army and attacked Alexander the Great's army at the Battle of the Granicus, with Aristes and Memnon of Rhodes commanding some of his forces. Parmenion took Tarsus before Arsames could burn it to the ground, and Arsames was slain at the Battle of Issus in 333 BC.
