Ashish Raja
Ashish Raja was an Indian general and the commander of the Indian contingent in ONUC during the Congo Crisis. In 1961, Raja's battle-hardened Indian troops were sent to take part in Operation Morthor by Conor Cruise O'Brien, but Raja made a grave error when his men chased some Katangese troops into the Radio Katanga building in the Katangese capital of Elisabethville. Raja had his men throw grenades into the building rather than waste lives storming the building, and he did not want to take the chance of any of the people in the building being armed, so his men killed people as they crawled out of the windows. 30 people were massacred in the building, and O'Brien had the incident covered up, although Katangese leader Moise Tshombe heard of the rumors of the massacre and cut off negotiations with the UN.
