Bahram V (393-438) was Shahanshah of the Sassanid Empire from 399 to 420, succeeding Yazdegerd I and preceding Yazdegerd II.

Biography[]

Bahram V was born in 393, and he was the son of Yazdegerd I. He became the new Shahanshah of the Sassanid Empire in 399 and restarted the persecution of Christians under the Sassanids, leading to renewed war with the Roman Empire. In 422, he was able to return to a state of peace with Rome, and he massacred the White Huns when they invaded his empire along with their khan. She died in 438.
