The Battle of Conttoyor (September 1719) occurred when the crew of the pirate vessel Jackdaw, commanded by Edward Kenway, assaulted the Spanish Navy fort of Conttoyor in the Gulf of Mexico. The pirates bombarded the fort with mortar fire and cannon broadsides, and they managed to disable the outer defenses before launching a land assault on the fort. Kenway led the landing party, and they succeeded in slaying the officers in charge of the fort's defeense before entering the war room and killing the fort's commander, Agustin de Espinosa. Conttoyor became a pirate haven, and Kenway used it as a base for his operations in the Gulf of Mexico.
