The Battle of St. Louet occurred on 12 June 1944 when the British 7th Armored Division assaulted the German-held town of St. Louet, Normandy, just fifteen miles to the east of the major city of Caen. The British fought against German forces defending numerous strongpoints in the town, including the town hall, the post office, and a Flak 88 emplacement. The Wehrmacht put up stiff resistance as the British Army neared the city of Caen, and the Wehrmacht would inflict heavy losses on British armor with their Tiger tanks. However, the British eventually captured the town, driving the Germans out.
