The Battle of Taginae was the encounter between the Byzantine Empire and the Ostrogoths that resulted in the end of Rome.

Battle

Eunuch general Narses and an army of over 28,000 Byzantine and Germanic troops invaded Italy, ruled by Totila, the successor of Theodoric the Great as King of Rome. The Ostrogothic army met them at Taginae, a fatal battle. The Ostrogothic cavalry was trapped in an enfilade and massacred by Byzantine bowmen, who killed Totila and conquered Rome.
