Douglas Brown was the brother of Black Harry and Mordechai Adams, and he changed his name after being shunned by the rest of the family. He was known to be a fearsome man, and his own niece Morgan Adams flinched whenever she saw him. Brown came to captain the Reaper, a pirate vessel, during the Golden Age of Piracy, and he became known as a disciplinarian, a hot-headed madman, and a person who was obsessed with the treasure of Cutthroat Island. Brown possessed a third of the map, and he had his brothers killed while attempting to find the other two pieces; however, Morgan stole the other two pieces, causing for Brown to attempt to hunt her down. Brown succeeded in capturing her on the island itself after John Reed gave up her location, and Governor of Jamaica Patrick Ainslee offered to make Brown a Royal Navy captain as a reward for his service; Brown aspired to one day become governor. However, Adams and her lover William Shaw managed to retake their ship, the Morning Star, and engage Brown's Reaper in battle, killing Ainslee, Reed, and several soldiers. Brown and Adams battled inside of their ship, and Adams managed to unveil a cannon and fire it at Borwn, killing him.
