Devil's Backbone
The Devil's Backbone, known as El Espino del Diablo in Spanish, is a rock formation in the northwestern Caribbean Sea, located off the coast of Mexico. The formation was known to be a challenge for many sailors, as its heavy fog and rocky crags led to several ships hitting reefs or rocks and sinking. In 1719, Benjamin Hornigold died when his ship was wrecked at the Devil's Backbone during hurricane season.
