Dry Tortuga
Dry Tortuga was a fort located in the Dry Tortugas, a small group of islands at the end of the Florida Keys in the US state of Florida, located 67 miles from Key West. The islands were discovered by the Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513, and the Spanish Navy once maintained a fort on the island, only for the fort to be destroyed by Edward Kenway's pirates in September 1719 and converted into a pirate stronghold during the Golden Age of Piracy. The islands are regularly uninhabited, but there are a few seasonal residents of the Dry Tortugas, which are now a part of a national park.
