The Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) is a liberal political party in the Canadian province of Quebec, founded on 1 July 1867. The QLP was initially a regional branch of the Liberal Party of Canada, and it sat in opposition to the Conservative Party of Quebec for the first 20 years of the Canadian confederation. The party supported Quebecois federalism, supporting substantial autonomy for the region, while also supporting Quebec's provincial status. The party was a part of the center-right, but it supported social liberalism and a strong role for the government in the economy. After the election of 1976, the party also came to have a significant social democratic minority. In 2017, the party held 68/125 National Assembly seats.
