Gujarat is a region of northwestern India, located on the border of the Pakistani province of Sindh.

History[]

With its capital at Ahmedabad, Gujarat had 803,120 people in 1706 and was 70% Hindu and 30% Islamic. Most of its wealth came from ports and tea trade, but farming also played a small part. It grew to a population of 1,183,460 people by 1750. By 2011, the population had skyrocketed to 60,363,628 people, with 88.57% being Hindu, 9.67% Muslim, .96% Jain, .52% Christian, .1% Sikh, .05% Buddhist, .03% others, and .1% secular.
