HMS Odin 1711
HMS Odin was a British Royal Navy man o' war that saw service in the Atlantic Ocean during the early 18th century. In November 1718, Odin, commanded by Lieutenant Robert Maynard, took part in the ambush of Blackbeard's pirates off North Carolina in the Battle of Ocracoke Inlet, and the Jackdaw succeeded in disabling the Odin before the pirates proceeded to board the ship. Blackbeard was killed by the British soldier Trevor Oates aboard the ship, and the British regained control of their vessel, forcing the pirates to retreat to the Jackdaw and sail away.
