Haredi Jews

Haredi Judaism is a strictly orthodox sect of Judaism that rejects all forms of secularism and modernization. Haredim maintained a steadfast adherence to Jewish law, segregated themselves from modern society, and focused on raising large families; the Haredim use the Biblical commandment "Be fruitful and multiply" to justify having a large number of children. Haredi boys and girls attend separate schools in a yeshiva or seminary, respectively, and most young men remain in yeshiva until marriage. In the United States and Europe, Haredim are active in the workforce, but they are either unemployed or unofficially employed in Israel for various religious reasons. In 2012, the world Haredi population numbered around 1,500,000.
