Battle of Cozumel

Hercules being boarded

The Hercules was a Spanish Navy brig that served in the Caribbean during the early 18th century. In September 1719, the Dutch merchant Milo van der Graaff hired the pirate Edward Kenway to board the Hercules and kill its captain, who killed many of Van der Graaff's employees. The Hercules was ambushed by the Jackdaw off Cozumel while moving as a part of a convoy, and Kenway boarded the ship and forced Captain Pequi Donant to surrender. The ship was looted, and it was then scuttled.
