Ian Hopkins
Ian Hopkins was Chief Constable of the Greater Manchester Police in England from 2015, succeeding Peter Fahy. Hopkins joined the Staffordshire Police as a constable in 1989, and he served as Assistant Chief Constable of the Greater Manchester Police from 2011 to 2015. That year, he succeeded Fahy as Chief Constable, and it was Hopkins who gave the press briefing following the bombing of the Manchester Arena, finishing his quick speech at 3:05 AM on 23 May 2017 (10:05 PM on 22 May 2017 in the United States). Hopkins stated that the incident was being investigated as a terrorist suicide bombing, and gave the number for an emergency hotline out to various people present in the crowd.
