Ingolf Hattendorf
Ingolf Hattendorf (1919-5 June 1944) was a German Wehrmacht soldier during World War II. On 5 June 1944, Hattendorf and Nicolas Berchtold sat in a bunker in Ste. Mere-Eglise and discussed President Franklin D. Roosevelt and the war, and they were ambushed by US 506th Infantry Regiment paratrooper Pvt. Martin and killed, the first German casualties at the Battle of Sainte-Mere-Eglise.
