The Italian Social Movement (MSI) was an Italian fascist party that existed from 1946 to 1995. The party was founded in 1946 by supporters of the late dictator Benito Mussolini, and it became the fourth largest party in Italy by the 1960s. The party and the Christian Democrats of Italy were allied during the 1940s and 1950s due to their shared cause of anti-communism, but the party was pushed to the sidelines in the 1960s, returning to prominence in the 1980s. In 1995, the moderate faction formed the conservative National Alliance of Italy, while the radical faction formed the fascist Tricolor Flame party.
