Jackdaw vs. Triunfo was a naval battle fought between the pirate crew of the ship Jackdaw and the Spanish Navy frigate Triunfo to the northwest of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands in the Caribbean Sea. The Spanish ship had been fighting against three BritishRoyal Navy ships, and the pirate captain, Edward Kenway, decided to take advantage of the battle to plunder the Spanish ship. The Jackdaw incapacitated Triunfo - which would have bested the Jackdaw, had it not been fighting two foes - and Kenway led his crew in a boarding action. Captain Anrique Valera was killed in the battle, and the pirates plundered the ship. The pirates were ignored by the British, as they had attacked one of King Philip's ships and not one of King George's, and the pirates left the restricted area, setting sail for Tulum in Mexico.
