Jonathan Barnet
Jonathan Barnet was a British Royal Navy captain who commanded a sloop during the Golden Age of Piracy. Governor Nicholas Lawes commissioned Barnet to attack Jack Rackham and his crew in October 1720, and Barnet's soldiers faced almost no opposition; of all of the crew members, only Anne Bonny, Mary Read, and Read's young lover were able to fight, as the rest were drunk. Barnet succeeded in capturing the pirates, who would be sentened to death by Admiralty Court judge Samuel Gilbert.
