Flag of Kaliningrad Oblast

Kaliningrad Oblast is a federal subject of Russia that is located on the coast of the Baltic Sea, with Kaliningrad serving as the capital. The territory was formerly part of East Prussia, which was annexed by the Soviet Union following the Allied victory in World War II in 1945. Following the postwar migration and expulsion of the German-speaking population, the territory was populated with citizens from the USSR; by the 2010s, there were virtually no ethnic Germans left in the oblast. In 2010, Kaliningrad Oblast had a population of 941,873 people.
