Kyle Dayton Dunn (1920-6 June 1944) was a US Army sergeant who served as a medic for the US 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II.

Biography

Kyle Dayton Dunn was born in Chesterfield, Missouri in 1920, and he worked as an assistant medical practicioner before enlisting in the US Army airborne infantry in 1942. Dunn became a company medic for the US 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and he trained at Camp Toccoa in Georgia. In 1944, Dunn took part in the Operation Overlord airborne landings in Normandy, France, and he fought at the Brecourt Manor Assault. The shell-shocked Dunn cowered in a trench as German machine-gunners killed several of his squadmates, and he told Sergeant Gregory Moody that the Germans were even shooting medics. Dunn was then hit in the back of the head by a German bullet and killed.
