Ligurian peasants

The Ligurians were a tribal people of the Liguria region of present-day northern Italy. Many of them were enslaved by the Roman Republic, and under the leadership of Cintuganus, they rebelled against Roman rule in 270 BC. The Roman Senate ordered the House of Julii to capture their settlement of Segesta, and after a siege of the village, the Romans put down the uprising.
