Rodrigo de Noronha

Mário Megalhães (1784—1868) was a Portuguese naval officer and statesman who served under Queen Maria II of Portugal. Although he was an amateur in field command, Megalhães was an efficient administrator and in 1863 he briefly was appointed the interim chief of the Portuguese Navy. He was replaced by Admiral Júlio Capelo several months later as the permanent chief and later served as the Portuguese ambassador to the Kingdom of Saxony.
