Two Marabunta Grande gang members in 2013
The Marabunta Grande is a Central American gang based in southern California, specifically in Los Angeles and Blaine County. The gang's members consisted primarily of Salvadoran-Americans, but people from Guatemala and Honduras were also allowed to enter the gang. During the 2010s, the Marabunta Grande entered into a rivalry with the Los Varrios Aztecas Mexican gang, fighting over arms and meth smuggling in the desert north of Los Angeles in 2013. The gang brought in goods by sea and smuggled them inland through rail, running an efficient distribution network, and the gang had a presence in northern Los Angeles' Venice Beach and Signal Hill neighborhoods.
