Matt Salmon

Matt Salmon (21 January 1958-) was a member of the US House of Representatives (R-AZ 1) from 3 January 1995 to 3 January 2001 (succeeding Sam Coppersmith and preceding Jeff Flake) and from AZ 5 from 3 January 2013 to 3 January 2017 (succeeding David Schweikert and preceding Andy Biggs).

Biography[]

Matt Salmon was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1958, and he served as a Mormon missionary in Taiwan from 1977 to 1979. From 1991 to 1995, he served in the Arizona Senate as a Republican, and he went on to serve in the US House of Representatives from 1995 to 2001, as chair of the state Republican Party from 2005 to 2007, and again in the House from 2013 to 2017. He was a staunch conservative during his time in the House.
