Nagamasa Kuroda
Nagamasa Kuroda (1568-1623) was a Tokugawa/Kuroda strategist and general who fought at the Battle of Sekigahara and the Osaka Campaign. He was most famous for killing Sakon Shima in the former, shooting him with a musket.
Biography
Nagamasa Kuroda was the son of famous strategist Kanbei Kuroda, and followed in his father's footsteps as a Tokugawa strategist, and when his father died in 1615, a daimyo. Nagamasa served in the Battle of Sekigahara in 1600 as a strategist for Ieyasu Tokugawa's Eastern Army, and was famous for slaying Sakon Shima, the strategist for the Western Army, who was opposing the Tokugawa in that battle. Nagamasa led Tokugawa forces in the Osaka Campaign of 1614-1615, fighting alongside his aging father. When his father died shortly after the battle of illness, Nagamasa became the ruler of the Kuroda family until his death in 1623.
