Nakajima Ki-43
The Nakajima Ki-43 "Oscar" was a single-engine, land-based tactical fighter used by the Imperial Japanese Army's air service during World War II. The plane was introduced in October 1941, just before Japan entered World War II. The plane was the most widely-used IJA fighter during the war, and it enjoyed air superiority over the skies of Burma, Indonesia, Malaya, and New Guinea in the first months of the war, but the introduction of new Allied planes and the conscription of inexperienced pilots into the Japanese military led to high casualties in combat. 5,919 Oscars were built during the war.
