Oliverotto da Fermo

Oliverotto da Fermo (1475-31 December 1502), also known as Oliverotto Euffreducci, was a condotierro of the Papal States during the Italian Wars.

Biography

Oliverotto Euffreducci was born in Fermo, and became an associate of Paolo Vitelli, fighting Pisa for the Republic of Florence and fighting for France in Apulia. In 1499 the two were accused of treason by Florence while fighting the Venetians and Pisans, and Paolo was executed, while Oliverotto was spared due to Ferman intervention. Da Fermo fought alongside Vitellozzo Vitelli for the Papal States until 1502, when they decided that the Papal States' power was too great. They conspired to kill their master Cesare Borgia, but the plot was found out, so they decided to regain his trust by taking Arezzo. Nevertheless, the two were strangled together at Senigallia by Micheletto Corella, Cesare's hitman.
