The People's Democratic Party of Uzbekistan (OXDP) was a liberal-conservative political party in Uzbekistan that was founded on 1 November 1991. The Communist Party of Uzbekistan voted to cut its ties with the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and rename itself to the "People's Democratic Party", and First Secretary Islam Karimov became its leader, while several other former communist officials joined the party leadership. In 2003, Karimov created the Uzbekistan Liberal Democratic Party, but the PDP remained loyal to him and retained his favor.
