The Rwandan Armed Forces (FAR) were the armed forces of Rwanda from 1962 to 1994. The FAR was supported by France, which supplied it with military assistance during the Rwandan Civil War, and the FAR fought against Rwandan Patriotic Front guerrillas during the war, as well as taking part in atrocities during the Rwandan Genocide. In 1994, the FAR was dissolved after the civil war came to an end, and it was replaced by the Rwandan Defense Forces (RDF).
