Samaria was the central region of the land of Israel, bordered by Galilee to the north and Judea to the south, and by the Mediterranean to the west and the Jordan River to the east. After Solomon divided his lands, Samaria became a part of the Kingdom of Israel, and the region took its name from the capital city of Israel, Samaria.
