The Santa Cruz Islands are an island group in the Pacific Ocean and a part of the Solomon Islands. The islands are located 250 miles southeast of the Solomon Islands, and they are just north of the Vanuatu archipelago. In 1942, the islands were the location of the Battle of Santa Cruz during World War II.
