Santa Maria Assunta
Santa Maria Assunta was a Catholic church in the city of San Gimignano, Tuscany that was built in the 12th century. It served as the city's main church during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, but it was full of peculiarities; it was undeserving of its nickname "il Duomo" because the town did not have a bishop, and the church did not have a tower, unlike several other buildings in the "City of Towers".
