Santa Monica Pier is a large double-jointed pier at the foot of Colorado Avenue in Santa Monica, California. The pier was opened on 9 September 1909, and its Pacific Park family amusement park opened on 25 May 1996, having a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art, solar-powered Ferris Wheel. The pier is very popular, with several visitors heading to the pier to enjoy its amusement park, to fish, or to enjoy its scenic view of the Pacific Ocean.
