Sheikh Jahandar of Qwivir

Sheikh Jahandar of Qwivir (738-) was a noble of the Abbasid Caliphate.

Biography[]

Jahandar was from the Khurramids, a dynasty of Zoroastrian Persians. He rose his flag in rebellion against Caliph al-Mansur on 13 April 769 after al-Mansur attempted to have him arrested due to the threat that he posed against the Abbasid Caliphate. His rebellion was crushed, but on 21 August he was released from the prison of al-Mansur in an attempt by the caliph to make his vassals like him better. However, his wife Shaykhah Hamdam of Qwivir was executed as a punishment.
