Sheikh Zahir of Al Nadjaf (1140-) was the Sheikh of Al Nadjaf and the Court Poet of Basra under the Abbasid Caliphate.
Biography[]
Zahir was born in 1140 to the Yaseenids, a dynasty of Sunni Muslim Levantines that ruled the Sheikhdom of Al Nadjaf (present-day Najaf, Iraq). A great commander, he was also made court poet of Basra (also in Iraq).
