Stalinism

Soviet poster showing Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Stalin

"Stalinism" is an erroneous term used to refer to a theory in communism that advocates state terror against working class enemies, a centralized state, collectivization of agriculture, rapid industrialization, aggrevation of the class struggle, and proletarian internationaism. The theory is named for Joseph Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union from 1923 to 1953. After his death, Nikita Khrushchev enacted De-Stalinization to remove traces of "Stalinism" in the USSR, and Stalinism has died down since the 1950s and 60s.
