Teodoro Vieira

Teodoro Vieira (1829–1902) was a Portuguese naval officer who served as the commander of the Portuguese Navy during the reign of King Carlos I of Portugal. As an officer, he had a reputation for being reckless and some considered him to be a megalomaniac, but he was a competent commander and was appointed navy chief in 1895. He served in that capacity better than his predecessor and stepped down in 1899 after a rather uneventful tenure except for a colonial war with Egypt in which he played little part, being replaced by Admiral Gastão Carmona.
