Ulrich Wender

Ulrich Wender (died 1524) was a Dutch Protestant priest who was Martin Luther's assistant pastor in Wittenberg, Germany. Wender studied with Luther and was one of his first followers, and he attended his trial at the Diet of Worms in 1521. In 1524, he was killed when German peasants led by Andreas Karlstadt attacked his church as he gave communion to worshippers in Luther's absence; the church's religious symbols were destroyed, and its worshippers were massacred.
