The incumbent Democratic Party candidate Andrew Jackson and his running mate Martin Van Buren won the election with 219 electoral votes, defeating the National Republican Party ticket of Henry Clay/John Sergeant (which received 46 votes), the Nullifier Party ticket of John Floyd/Henry Lee (which received 11 votes), and the Anti-Masonic Party ticket of William Wirt/Amos Ellmaker (which received 7 votes).
